Beulah - Galleries

Can a small town be more endearing? Beulah, a biblically referenced name, was christened by a reverend from the verse Isaiah 62:4 that talks about marriage to the "land of Beulah." This gentle town is lined with beautiful summer homes and an inviting beach that rims the southeastern shore of blue blue, intrinsically blue Crystal Lake. Here was an important stop on the now bygone railroad for resorters getting on and off at the depot. Today, the grand Courthouse still stands overlooking the village, the community park, and the sparkling lake. A lively assortment of shops hum along the main street and offer an eccentric, old-time market deli; a divine kitchen emporium; art works; antiques; a handy print shop; and -as a relief for winter doldrums-an in-town bowling alley. Watch the summertime blossom with a bustling fresh produce and flower market, more open gift shops and restaurants, and longer hours to linger over a latté watching the ducks stroll from the Cold Creek to the breezy lake. The prestige of the county government center resides here, and also, the luxury of an uncrowded secretary of state's office. Taking a ride over the highway bridge relinquishes a view of the town that instantly clutches the heart; toss in a brilliant pastel sunset and Beulah is love at first sight.
