Cedar - Churches

Originally christened Cedar City in 1885 because of its location in a cedar forest, this quiet village is home for hardworking, community-minded folks. A perfect example from this cherry-farming and sausage-making country is Ray Pleva's famous old-fashioned, cherry-enhanced meats. The Cedar Tavern is a favorite spot to relax and enjoy great blues, folk, and rock 'n' roll music. Cedar is located at the base of South Leelanau Lake, which provides many B&B's and summer cottages with lovely views. For year-round family enjoyment, Sugarloaf Resort offers a hotel, dining, a pool, and golf (at the nearby King's Challenge Golf Course), not to mention the steepest ski slope in the Midwest. Cedar knows how to kick up its heels with the Polka Festival in July. This gala affair includes four days of invigorating music, dancing, food, and drinks.
